Established by Richard C. Kennedy and George E. Koontz at the 320 North Holtzclaw Avenue location in Chattanooga where it remains today, the firm of Kennedy, Koontz & Klingler has a reputation for providing quality, ethical and zealous representation for a diverse client base in a wide array of legal areas for 30 years. Richard T. Klingler joined the firm in 1991. The firm has represented national, regional and local companies as well as providing personal representation for individuals with legal needs.
Our attorneys have represented a national hotel chain, a national nursing home company, a 6,000 employee Southeastern regional company as outside general counsel, one of the largest hospital networks in the state of Tennessee, and has been involved as both creditor and debtor counsel in some of the largest Chapter 11 bankruptcies ever filed in Tennessee.
The firm’s lawyers have obtained judgments for injured plaintiffs for as high as seven figures as well as successfully defended actions brought seeking seven figures. At various times in its history, the firm’s lawyers have obtained judgments or successful resolution through settlements for plaintiffs as well as defendants in EEOC claims, retaliatory discharge claims, ADA claims, FMLA Claims, Tennessee Consumer Protection Act Claims, FDCPA and FCRA claims. Partners in the firm have negotiated numerous managed care contracts as well as obtained appropriate reimbursement pursuant to managed care contracts with the largest national insurance providers for various hospitals and healthcare providers through meditation, arbitration and provided litigation representation for healthcare providers to maximize reimbursement under workers compensation laws, ERISA and contracts, Black Lung, TennCare, Medicare, Medicaid, and to maximize recovery for the treatment of state and local prisoners.
During its history partners in the firm have been active in the local bar association, churches and community, including the firm helping to sponsor and George E. Koontz founding and acting as President for 23 years of the Chattanooga Cyclones baseball organization which has helped over 300 Chattanooga area young men obtain college baseball scholarships.
